Words, Addison's Words.

It's amazing how such a sweet little angel, our sweet little angel Addison has made me fall in love with the English language, or maybe just words.  It is so fun listening to Addison develop her way of talking, Lord knows between Joey and I, she needs her own outlet.  She is also mimicking our sounds and starting to explore so many more words.  A few of Addison's words...

  • hhhooottttt, that's 'hot', whispered, each and every time!
  • Bubba, that's Joey's nickname.  First thing we hear in the morning from her...
  • doggie
  • Oma, this is what we call Donna, her grandma
  • Pop-Pop, she's been hammering away at this one for a while probably because it's so fun to say!
  • Mama.  Melts my heart every time, nothing is better then hearing her call me Mama.  It's been upgraded from "MA!"
  • Da, for Ryan.  We are working on it... Addison doesn't really need to call for Ryan ever, she's always in his arms!
  • Baaalll, ball, didn't you know?

Hostess Gift, Take Two

My version of the wonderful Hostess Gift I found last week, blog snooping.  Pottery Barn had a great deal on their baskets, and who doesn't love a great PB Basket for around the house?  Of course, I hit World Market for a wonderful selection of wines, and added a few Sunflowers, perfect!

Lucy.

Our sweet Lucy, our Great Pry pup, was spayed today.  She is certainly sad this evening.  It was an interesting day for me though this experience.  Lucy is my first dog, I grew up with two cats.  While Ryan always had dogs. I am certain that he went at least six years to long before having another dog.  Babies before animals isn't usually the way the cookie crumbles.

We had the conversation several times about whether or not to seal the deal and big a puppy home.  I was never ready. We always knew that we wanted a large breed dog, a husky, a golden, Ryan would have never imagined a Great Pyrenees.  The Great Pyr breed was always in my sight.  They are wonderful with children, herd their families like they would their own, and they are big, and I mean really BIG.  You see, I despise small dogs.  They all seem to be too yippy, and lets get real, I want a dog that I will feel some security in.  I got it.

A dear family friend outside of Austin, Texas has a working ranch and bed & breakfast, with several Great Pyrenees dogs that herd their animals.  The timing was perfect, they had a baby girl (Ryan's only requirement) pry, and I was all about her!  I had to do some sweet talking, not too much, but some, I was asking to bring home a puppy who will grow to be well over 100 pounds.  Thankfully, I had a secret weapon in my negotiations, Addison.  That's right, our twelve month old.  Addison, loves, and loves dogs hard.  It was a no brainer.  I poured myself into the car, drove solo to Austin and back in one weekend, to bring our sweet Lucy home.

So, tonight Lucy is a little sad.  But she has brought so much joy to our home.  She tolerates Addison grabbing and pulling at her.  She tolerates Joey's hot and cold mood with her.  She loves us all, she is the best puppy Ryan has ever had and my protector and friend.

We made it through the day, and the crazy decisions: laser or scalpel, fluids or not, blood work or skip it, seriously the things people skimp on with their animals to save a few dollars.  She is a part of our family, our very nuclear family.

Hostess Gift, Don't Mind If I Do.

Those who can't do, snoop.  I don't blog, but I do snoop the blogs.  I am always checking out The Party Dress blog, it's genius.  Saw this fall hostess gift on their site this evening and I fell in love.  Not only would this be wonderful for a hostess gift but also for an engagement party!  I happen to be attending one Saturday night.  Shhh, don't tell them how wonderful this gift is!

Third Time's A Charm?

Well, I totally envy anyone who has a blog & keeps up with their blog.  I am 100% guilty of having started this blog several times to only sluff it off after telling myself that I will follow through.  I usually have writers block because I am so critical of what I say, or don't say.  So, no holds bar, "you get what you get and don't throw a fit", as Joey so often says.  This is our life, my life, here it is for all.
